Richard Ryan AO

Chairman

Richard Ryan has been Chairman of Editure since 2000.  Mr Ryan is the Chancellor of the Charles Darwin University in Australia.  He holds the directorship of several public companies and private investment companies.  A recipient of the Australia Day Honours on three occasions.  Mr Ryan was made a member of the Order of Australia in 1989 for Services to the Community and was made an Officer of the Order of Australia in 1998 for Services to Indigenous People.  Mr Ryan has gained extensive experience in the management and directorship of firms such as The Camberwell Coal Joint Venture and the Northern Territory Treasury Corporation Advisory Board.   He was also formerly Chief executive Officer of Henry Walker Eltin Limited which was one of Australia’s largest contract mining businesses and was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.  Mr Ryan is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, a Companion of the Institution of Engineers Australia and a Companion of the Institute of Management (UK). 

 

Joe Ewart

Vice Chairman

Joe Ewart has been a director of Editure since 2005 and was appointed Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Editure in 2007.  Mr Ewart has spent the majority of his career in the financial services industry including almost fifteen years in investment banking.  He was a Managing Director in investment banking. at Goldman Sachs JBWere, was head of the real estate investment banking group in Australia and was a member of the Goldman Sachs Global M&A Leadership Group.  Mr Ewart was also a Managing Director and before that a Director in investment banking at Deustche Bank.  He was a Principal and Vice President in investment banking at BT Wolfensohn.  Prior to that, Mr Ewart was also a Vice President at BT Alex.Brown and a Vice President at Bankers Trust Australia.  He started his career at Arthur Andersen and is a chartered accountant.  Mr Ewart holds a Bachelor of Economics degree, Master of Commerce degree, and is a member of the Financial Services Institute of Australia. 


 

Mike Flynn

Non-Executive Director


Michael Flynn has been a non-executive director of Editure since 2000.  He has had a highly successful career spanning over 40 years and has been involved in a range of different industries and businesses.  Mr Flynn established and managed Flynn Petroleum, which proved highly successful.  He also owned and successfully operated businesses such as Road Trains of Australia and Tristar Industries.  Mr Flynn continues to hold directorships in several private companies and has been particularly active in the areas of property management, property development, tourism and equity portfolio management.  He was previously a director of the Darwin Port Corporation and several other national industry bodies.

 

David Knowles

Non-Executive Director


David Knowles joined Editure in 1995 as General Manager.  He was Chief Executive Officer from 1996 to 2004, and then Executive Director Sales and Marketing until June 2007.  Mr Knowles was a Director of Editure from 26 November 1996 to 1 July 2007, and was reappointed as Director on 1 December 2008.  Mr Knowles has extensive experience in the educational publishing, media, printing and IT industries in project development and management, business development and CEO roles.  Over a thirty year plus time span Mr Knowles has worked at the highest levels of education, business, and government and semi government authorities in Australia, USA, UK, Europe and Asia.  Mr Knowles continues to be actively involved, through investments and advisory roles, in several private companies involved in IT, Education, Employment and Environmental activities.

John Gamble

Non-Executive Director


John Gamble has been an alternate director on the Editure board since 2000.  Mr Gamble has been involved in a range of companies and worked in variety of industries in a career spanning more than 30 years.   A Chartered Accountant, he spent a significant portion of his career in the accounting profession.  He was a senior member of the taxation practice at Howarths and also formed his own Chartered Accounting firm.  Mr Gamble has experience in vast number of industries including aviation, general industrials and technology.  He continues to hold directorships of several private companies and investment companies.
