Editure application achieves SIF® Certification

11/01/2010

Editure, the global education and training company, is pleased to announce its new mydx application has been certified by the SIF Certification Authority as conforming to the SIF 1 Enabled Application (United Kingdom) Product Standard.

Mydx is an automated provisioning system that imports account and group records from a school Managed Information system (MIS) and provisions them into mysuite, Editure’s award winning BECTA compliant learning platform software.

By activating mydx, schools that currently have mysuite will save their teachers and administrators hundreds of hours of work manually creating accounts and groups. They will also reduce errors, increase data consistency, and speed up the process by which teachers and learners gain access to computing resources.

The Schools Interoperability Framework (SIF) defines how information systems share information related to instruction and administration in the K-12 space. Amongst other things, it includes standards for exchanging information about learners, teachers, non-teaching staff and groups. The SIF Implementation Specification (United Kingdom) 1.1 is a variation of SIF specifically designed to support UK schools.

To ensure Editure and our partners remain at the forefront of educationally relevant learning platforms the company is also in the process of completing its ‘next generation’ learning platform release. Clients will be able to see a demo of this and mydx at the upcoming January 2010 BETT show at our stand - F140.

Barrie Lambert, President of Editure’s Education Technology business, commented: “Editure has long been a proponent of system standards that promote interoperability between applications widely used in education. Achieving SIF certification is an important milestone that clearly demonstrates we deliver on what we commit. Leveraging SIF and other leading interoperability standards will enable us to deliver the highest quality products and services to our educational clients with the lowest total cost of ownership.”

Larry Fruth, PhD, Executive Director and CEO of the SIF Association commented: “We are thrilled that Editure is a successful and active part of the growing SIF Association UK Community.  Their mydx product certification is an example of their commitment in supporting the educational marketplace by enabling SIF interoperability to reduce the burden on school data management and utilisation.   We know this is a first step for this growing community and Editure’s leadership ideally will be the model for other companies to respond to marketplace needs.”
